Our Story
Born From Love for One Dog. Built to Save Thousands.
Shadow Husky Rescue, Inc. was founded by Tim "Master Wolf™" McVicker, whose lifelong passion for animals was ignited the moment he rescued his first husky — a dog named Shadow — in 2006. As a child, Tim used to feed stray dogs his lunch at school. That same instinct to protect and care has never left him. In 2016, he channeled that passion into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a singular focus: rescuing Siberian Huskies and northern breed mixes in Southern California who are displaced, abandoned, abused, or facing euthanasia.
Our mission is simple and unwavering — to rescue huskies the world gave up on and provide them with a second chance at life by finding them permanent, loving homes. We are a foster-based rescue operating out of Menifee, CA, with reach across Riverside County, Orange County, and Los Angeles County. We specialize in cases other rescues pass over, including dogs with complex medical needs that require multi-stage surgeries and long-term rehabilitation.

Our Medical Dogs Program is the heartbeat of Shadow Husky Rescue — and it sets us apart from every other rescue in Southern California. When a husky comes to us with injuries, illness, or complex surgical needs, we don't turn them away.
We've partnered with UC Davis veterinary hospital to provide advanced procedures that most small rescues could never attempt. One of our most beloved graduates, Mally, underwent foreign object removal, bilateral patella repair, an amputation, and a liver shunt operation — all before finding her forever home alongside her bonded companion Laska.
