How the Husky Adoption Process Works
Adopting from Shadow Husky Rescue is a thoughtful, relationship-first process — because every husky in our care has already been through enough. We don't just match dogs to applicants; we match dogs to the right life.
Submit Your Application
Fill out our Adoption Application and email it to [email protected]. Mention the dog you're interested in the subject line.
Application Review
Our team reviews your home environment, lifestyle, and experience with the breed to ensure every match sets both you and your new dog up for success.
Meet & Greet
Once approved, we'll set up a meet-and-greet — often at our Sunday adoption events at PetSmart Menifee. This is where the magic happens.
Home Check & Final Placement
We conduct a home check to ensure your space is safe and secure for a husky. Upon approval, your new dog comes home with you.

What is the adoption fee?
Adoption fees vary by dog and help cover veterinary care, spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, and medical rehabilitation. Contact us at [email protected] for current fee information.
How long does the adoption process take?
Most adoptions move through the process within 1–3 weeks from a completed application. We're serious about finding the right match, not just the fastest one.
Do you adopt out bonded pairs?
Yes — and we actively prioritize keeping bonded pairs together whenever possible. Bonded pairs are often the most rewarding adoption of all.
Is breed experience required?
Prior experience is a big plus but not always required. What matters most is understanding the breed — Siberian Huskies are intelligent, vocal, high-energy, and escape-prone.
Do you adopt outside of Southern California?
Our adoptions are primarily focused on Riverside, Orange, and Los Angeles Counties, but we have placed huskies in other states. Out-of-state applicants are evaluated case-by-case.
Can I adopt a senior husky?
Absolutely — and we'd love to find senior huskies their perfect retirement home. Older dogs are often calmer, deeply grateful, and make incredibly loving companions.
